DMU Clinic to Host 50 and Better Health Fair

Mark your calendars for the 50 and Better Health Fair, Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Des Moines University Clinic, 3200 Grand Ave. This annual event offers free health screenings and information for adults ages 50 and older.

Attendees can receive expert health screenings performed by DMU medical students, supervised by faculty, with services including:

  • Skin checks.
  • Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
  • Blood pressure checks.
  • Foot and ankle screenings.
  • Balance screenings (and more) with physical therapy.
  • Neuro screenings.

“The 50 and Better Health Fair is an excellent way for our students to engage with community members through hands-on screenings and procedures they’ve learned in our labs,” says Sarah Parrott, D.O., FAAFP, chair of the primary care department at DMU and a family physician at DMU Clinic – Family Medicine. “It’s also a great opportunity to educate older adults on how to maintain their health and stay connected within the community.”

The event is free, requires no fasting and has plenty of free parking available on-site. Coffee and light snack will be available for participants. Registration is not required. For more information, email studentlife@dmu.edu.
